Role and Responsibilities of Anti-Ragging Committee Members

1.Role
  • To maintain a safe, respectful and conclusive environment within the institution.
  • To prevent, monitor, and address any instances of ragging within the campus and hostel premises, ensuring compliance with UGC regulations and institutional policies.
2.Responsibilities

               1 .Prevention and Awareness

  • Organize awareness programs, seminars, and orientation sessions for students, especially newcomers, about the        consequences of ragging.
  • Display anti-ragging posters, helpline numbers, and policy details across campus and hostels.
    2.Vigilance and Monitoring
  • Conduct regular inspections in hostels, canteens, classrooms, and other common areas to detect and deter ragging during the initial months of each academic year when ragging incidents are more likely to occur.
  • Appoint faculty, student, and administrative representatives to patrol and monitor key areas.

    3.Handling Complaints

  • Provide confidential and accessible channels for students to report ragging incidents.
  • Take immediate action on any complaints received and forward findings to the higher authorities or disciplinary committee for investigation.

    4.Disciplinary Action

  • Recommend appropriate disciplinary measures against students found guilty of ragging as per UGC and institutional guidelines.
  • Ensure fair and unbiased inquiry procedures are followed.

    5.Coordination and Reporting

  • Coordinate with the Anti-Ragging Squad, hostel wardens, student counselors, and the Principal.
  • Submit periodic reports on anti-ragging activities, awareness drives, and incident status to the institution and UGC portal.
