The objective of this scheme involves developing the personality and character of the student’s youth through voluntary community service. An important service that can be rendered by the NSS volunteers is disseminating information about the latest development in agriculture, sanitation, nutrition, personal hygiene, etc

One unit of the National Service Scheme is functioning at the SRS Institute of Agriculture & Technology, Dindigul. Since, its inception as part of the curriculum. The NSS program is offered in the College to first and second year students. The program officers will be given orientation training for the effective conduct of the NSS program.

Timing : 10.00 AM.
Venue: Kunnampatti, Vedasandur.
We started our NSS programme by informing the village people about the purpose of our work. As an introductory programme we met Panchayat President Mrs. Rajammal Thangavel (Nagampatti village),Vice President Dharani Karthikeyan, Ward Councillor Eswari, Head of the village Ponnusammy and along with them people of Kunnampatti village also participated in our NSS programme. We gave information to the people regarding our motive of our upcoming NSS programme like cleanliness of the village, proper nutrition for children, veterinary maintenance.

After reaching the village we started our NSS work in process of cleaning the temple, underneath the public water tank,surroundings of the drama stage.
We went to each house by informing the village people to visit our Beekeeping event and Honey Production Awareness Program.
After the completion of cleanliness programme we returned to our college around 6pm.

Date : 22 July 2025.

Venue : Kunnampatti, Vedasandur.

We started our rally from Aathumadai bus stop to Sneha mahal, Vedasandur.Parthenium Eradication and Anti-Plastic Awareness Rally was initiated by MLA Gandhirajan, also there came our college principal Dr. A. Velayudham as a special guest invited by the important heads of the particular village.
After lunch around 2 pm at Kunnampatti village we invited the village people to visit our”Training camp for farmers on Azolla production and uses”programme which was headed by Mrs. Nithiyakalyani and Ms. Swathi (Assistant professors. Agronomy Department of SRSIAT) and there was a formal public speech to the farmers.Finally there was a distribution of information about Azolla to the farmers. After the distribution we returned back to the college at 6 pm.

Venue:Kunnampatti, Vedasandur.
We reached Kunnampatti village around 8:00 a.m. We, the students (100 members), were split into four groups. Once again, we reminded the village people to bring their cattle to the center of the village near the Anganwadi. Around 9:00 a.m., the veterinary doctors, Dr. Thenmozhi and Dr. Kavitha, arrived. The villagers visited the doctors along with their cattle. There was a checkup session for the cattle, and they received medicines; some were also given injections. After the veterinary programme, we returned to our college at 6:00 p.m.

We visited the Kunnampatti village people to conduct our Mushroom and vermicomposting training program for rural people which was headed by Dr. Praveen and Dr. Rupavalli (Assistant professors. Pathology Department of SRSIAT) and Mrs. Malarvizhi (Assistant professor. Environmental Science Department of SRSIAT) there was a formal public speech to the village people. After lunch around 2 pm at Kunnampatti village we invited the village people to visit our Soil conservation and soil health awareness program which was headed by Dr. David Israel Mansingh(Assistant professor.Soil Science department of (SRSIAT) and there was a public speech to the village people about soil conservation.After the distribution we returned back to the college at 6 pm.

We started our Tree Planting Ceremony was initiated by our college principal Dr. A. Velayudham as a special guest.After this ceremony,we visited the Kunnampatti village people to conduct our Awareness program on the schemes related to agriculture and rural development of the Central Government program for rural people which was headed by Dr.Jayasudha (Assistant professor. Extension department of SRSIAT ) there was a formal public speech to the village people.
